Francesca and Bethan are an accomplished duo partnership spanning 5 years of recital and competition experience. The duo commits to programming works by underrepresented composers and present varied selections of the song repertoire.
Success in competitions include: finalists in the TL English Song Competition for Voice and Piano, highly commended in both the Elisabeth Schumann Lieder Duo Competition and the 2019 Lillian Ashe French Song Duo Competition awarded by Malcolm Martineau, going on to win the competition in 2020 adjudicated by Roger Vignoles. The duo regularly performs recitals across the UK, in venues such as Southwark Cathedral, St James’s Piccadilly and Howden Minster. Last year the duo was invited to perform a recital with the Howdenshire Music Project as well as a recital in Grosseto, Italy for the AGIMUS Festival. Following this, the duo competed in the final of the Somerset Song Prize 2022, where Francesca won the Pianist Prize for their programme of all female composer works.
Last year the duo focused on a programme of songs by composers Amy Beach, Florence Price, Nadia Boulanger, Clara Schumann and Madeleine Dring. In partnership with Howdenshire Music, the duo recorded the programme which you can view in the video gallery below.
